Celebrate card

I was inspired by the June 30 Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge and decided to join in and make a red, white and blue card.  I looked through my craft supplies and pulled out products and tools to get creative.  

I used three coordinated colors of scrapbook paper by My Mind's Eye.  I used the bold pattern for the background panel and layered it onto white card stock.  I cut the red and lighter blue papers along with a piece of white card stock using the Papertrey Ink rick rack die.  I used a scalloped circle punch to cut the red paper to layer with the candles.  I used white card stock and die cut the candles using the Sizzix candles #2 die.  I colored the candles with colored pencils and added a bit of shimmer with Recollections glitter glue.  The sentiment is an image from a $1 dollar stamp set from Michaels - remember those mini stamp sets, lol!  I used Memento Lady Bug ink to stamp the word, and I was surprised that the ink wasn't dry - I'm sure I've had it for over 10 years!  I cut a piece of enchanted evening card stock, by Papertrey Ink, for the card base and adhered all elements together to finish a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card.

Happy Halloween

I love Halloween and thought it would be a great idea to use them to embellish treat holders for the trick or treaters!  The stamps are from the $1 bin at the craft stores that I've collected over the years.  There are many videos out there but here is one that shows how to make them but I modified my project.  I cut my paper to 8x8 to hold a bit more than the 6x6 size.  They were quick to make once I decided on the project I wanted to use to hold the candy.  I used markers to color the images and added some ribbon for added embellishment. 

Bloom - The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Kathy Racoosin at The Daily Marker.com has started her 30 Day Coloring Challenge which also happens to be the 10th anniversary for this series of her coloring challenge!  A few minutes a day or whatever time you can fit in to color anything you want is all it takes!  I'm happy to be participating for the first time!  The floral image is a page from the DO Coloring and crafting book pictured below.  I colored the various flowers with Sharpie markers not trying to be perfect but just enjoying the moment to sit and unwind to clear the mind!  It was quite nice!  Once finished, I tore the page out of the book--it was easy because it had perforated edges.  I was inspired by Kathy's first project and created this 12x12 scrapbook page.  I cut some navy blue card stock with a Fiskars super sized square template to create a frame for the picture.  I created the title out of white card stock and cut the letters from the Olivia collection, a Cuttlebug letter die set.  To finish up the project, I adhered all elements to the patterned paper.

 

Happy Valentine's Day

Here's a little project I whipped up the other night; a mini card and a gable box.  I filled the box with candy and gave this ensemble to my son for Valentine's Day.  To make these items, in my craft stash I found a piece of red card stock embossed with hearts.  I've had it for several years from a craft swap so I finally put it to use.  I used a paper punch to cut out the heart shapes to decorate the box.  Looking at the left over piece with the negative heart shape, I decided it would be a great decoration for a card front. I also found a piece of small card stock that I made into a mini card.  (Sometimes saving scraps is a good thing, LOL!)  I adhered the embossed card stock piece to the card front but it was a bit plain so I stamped in three hearts to finish the look.  Another fun and quick treat holder, I used the instructions I have in my file of tutorials, to make the gable box.  I used a sheet of Stampin Up's ruby red card stock for the gable box.  There is also a video tutorial by Splitcoaststampers for the gable box which can be found on their channel here.  Have a nice day! 

Gala bag

The bag in this tutorial here is so fun and quick to make!  I've made a few before to hold small gifts and treats.  It's best to use a heavy weight paper or card stock but if it's something very light, regular scrapbook paper should work..  For my bag, I used 2 sheets of Die Cuts With a View 8x8 textured card stock.  I kept the decoration simple by layering two Prima flowers and adding a polka dot brad for the flower center. Black ribbon for the handles, a paper tag and tissue paper finished the bag!
